It happened because of a childhood prank that ended in tragedy.

That afternoon, I was swinging as high as possible in our neighborhood playground, enjoying the sensation of flying. A boy who lived on my street was standing nearby, teasing me.

“Please,” he said. “Just hear me out.”

“I can’t,” I replied.

His confession left me speechless.

“Then why hide it?” I asked.

“You should’ve told me,” I said quietly.

“I know,” he whispered. “I was wrong.”
