My hands clenched in my lap. “But you told the waitress you didn’t want anything. She asked you directly.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“I shouldn’t have had to ask! You’re my family. You should’ve just known. You should’ve just ordered for me. That’s what families do. They take care of each other. They understand each other… without having to ask.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The silence that followed was haunting. Even the couple at the next table had stopped talking to listen.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
