Some were clearly thrift store finds. Others looked like they came straight from a runway.<\/p>\n<p>Dorothy froze. Her tiara twinkled in the overhead lighting, but the effect was less regal and more clownish in a room full of \u201cbrides.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One woman walked past in a Victorian-style gown and gave her a wink.<br \/>\n\u201cYou look adorable, Dorothy. Great minds think alike!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dorothy blinked like she\u2019d just walked into a cult.<\/p>\n<p>The real bride, Emily, emerged from the back with her father and the biggest smile I\u2019d ever seen. Her dress \u2014 elegant, modern, ivory with a slight blush undertone \u2014 stood out just enough from the sea of white to make it unmistakably hers.<\/p>\n<p>Everyone clapped. Except Dorothy, who stood there, frozen in her glory \u2014 suddenly just another guest in white.<\/p>\n<p>Linda leaned toward me and whispered,<br \/>\n\u201cDo you think she\u2019ll stay for cake, or just fake a fainting spell to steal attention again?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>David overheard and chuckled.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPlace bets. I give her until the toasts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But we were wrong.<\/p>\n<p>Dorothy didn\u2019t even make it to the end of the ceremony.<br \/>\nWhen the officiant announced, \u201cLet\u2019s take a moment to recognize the love between Emily and David\u2026\u201d she actually cleared her throat loudly \u2014 trying to interrupt.<\/p>\n<p>Someone behind her (God bless Aunt Patty) hissed,<br \/>\n\u201cSit down, sparkle queen. Your time is over.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dorothy sat.<\/p>\n<p>But the final nail? During the family portraits, the photographer \u2014 the same one who\u2019d shot Dorothy\u2019s own wedding decades ago \u2014 said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlright! Let\u2019s do the immediate family of the bride \u2014 excluding anyone attempting a fashion encore from 1986.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The room howled with laughter.<\/p>\n<p>Even Alan chuckled \u2014 quickly masking it with a cough when Dorothy shot him a death glare.<\/p>\n<p>She left before dinner was served, claiming a \u201cmigraine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We all know it was ego whiplash.<\/p>\n<p>And the best part?
