Faces half-shadowed. Weapons slung low. Dust on our boots. This one cannot.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"8398\" data-end=\"8429\">She read silently for a moment.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"8431\" data-end=\"8458\">Then she looked at Shepard.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"8460\" data-end=\"8486\">\u201cOperation Night Orchard.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"8488\" data-end=\"8555\">One of the colonels whispered a curse before he could stop himself.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"8557\" data-end=\"8581\">Shepard closed his eyes.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"8583\" data-end=\"8599\">Richard noticed.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"8601\" data-end=\"8667\">For the first time, fear entered his expression with full clarity.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"8669\" data-end=\"8716\">\u201cWhat is Operation Night Orchard?\u201d Ethan asked.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"8718\" data-end=\"8738\">Nobody answered him.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"8740\" data-end=\"8749\">So I did.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"8751\" data-end=\"8803\">\u201cA recovery mission that officially never happened.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"8805\" data-end=\"8841\">My voice sounded calmer than I felt.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"8843\" data-end=\"9040\">\u201cFourteen years ago, an allied intelligence convoy vanished near the Syrian border. It carried names, routes, safe houses, informants, and one man the enemy wanted badly enough to burn cities for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"9042\" data-end=\"9093\">Shepard\u2019s hands curled against the back of a chair.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"9095\" data-end=\"9173\">\u201cThree teams went in,\u201d he said quietly. \u201cTwo were compromised before arrival.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"9175\" data-end=\"9285\">\u201cThe third team was ours,\u201d I continued. \u201cReaper Cell.
